Raymond R. Robitaille starts Ilene Industries, Inc.!

Raymond R. Robitaille starts Ilene Industries, Inc. as a manufacturing company to serve customer needs with QUALITY as the standard and establishes a customer-oriented attitude. The company develops a unique manufacturing process for producing high quality "wrapped and braised' bearing retainers or cages for the precision bearing industry. The company establishes a gasket operation with an emphasis on felt products.

1975

John C. Smith, co-owner, takes over as Ray Robitaille retires.

The Core Business continues to grow and continues to improve its processes, while new business ventures are established: Computer Systems Integration. Implementation begins with a real-time emphasis for several large NASA Programs. The Gasket Fabrication operation is expanded to incorporate a larger variety of materials to satisfy the ever-expanding needs of our customers plus providing newer and ever-increasing technologies. In 1980, Ilene Industries is relocated to Shelbyville, TN to save on taxes, better serve our customers and expand and develop new customers. The Computer Systems Division is terminated in 1987 as NASA recovers from the Space Shuttle Disaster!

1989

Raymond A. Smith assumes command as John C. Smith moves to a new venture.

The Gasket Fabrication Division is expanded to incorporate a new and very innovative philosophy to provide short yardage materials to satisfy immediate customer demands and requirements. Our inventories were increased substantially so our customers could reduce their inventories to help improve their overall profit margins. The company also developed its own GasketPro 2000 software to assist in controlling our larger inventories, speed up order processing, provide more efficiency and accuracy in our normal business activities. It also provides innovative material purchasing to insure customer needs are met in a timely fashion and with the best possible prices available. Plant expansion in 2006 provides for a manufacturing facility to serve the ever increasing needs for Silicone Rubber. Full Production is planned for the fall of 2007.
